DRESS CODE POLICY

Our dress code is committed to providing a safe learning environment.  No clothing will be allowed which defames, degrades or is offensive to a culture, religion, or gender or with suggestive or objectionable material. We prohibit the presence of any apparel, jewelry, accessory, notebook, trademark or any other identifying factor that denotes membership in such a group.

This dress code addresses the following areas:

  1. Clothing may not disrupt the learning environment. A student's dress and general appearance should not be so extreme that it draws attention to the student, nor should dress and appearance detract or interfere with the teacher and learning in the classroom.
    Examples of inappropriate attire are:
    • Clothing that is excessively revealing.
    • Exposed stomachs or backs.
    • Exposed underwear such as bras or boxers.
    • Pants sagging below hips.
    • Hem of shorts/skirt that are above bottom of the student’s middle finger when arms are resting at the sides.
    • Spaghetti straps, low-cut tops, or pajamas.

  2. Clothing must not create a safety problem.
  3. Shoes must be worn at all times.  Heels may be no more than 2” high.  All footwear must be secured at the heel and be properly laced and tied.
  4. Leggings, leotards and/or tights must be worn with shorts or a skirt.
  5. Hats and/or caps are allowed and may only be worn outdoors. Hats worn inside school buildings and classrooms will be confiscated.

Any student violating the dress code will be required to change into their P. E. clothes.  On the first dress code violation, the student will be issued a warning.   Repeated dress code violations will result in detention.
