DRESS CODE POLICY

Our dress code is committed to providing a safe and orderly learning environment. No clothing will be allowed which defames, degrades or is offensive to a culture, religion, or gender. Nor shall any clothing be allowed with suggestive or objectionable material. Therefore, we prohibit the presence of any apparel, jewelry, accessory, notebook, trademark or any other identifying factor that denotes membership in such a group.

This dress code addresses the following areas:

  1. Clothing may not disrupt the learning environment. A student's dress and general appearance should not be so extreme that it draws attention to the student, nor should dress and appearance detract or interfere with the teacher and learning in the classroom.
    Examples of inappropriate attire are:
    • Exposed stomachs or backs
    • Pants sagging below hips
    • Exposed underwear such as bras, camisoles, slips and boxers
    • Pant legs that touch the ground
    • Hem of shorts that are above student's middle finger when arms are resting at the sides
    • spaghetti straps, low-cut tops, or pajamas
    • Sandals or slippers
    • Bandanas or do-rags
  2. Clothing must not advocate unhealthy behavior, dangerous practice, or create a safety problem.
  3. Shoes must be worn at all times and appropriate for school. Heels may be no more than two inches in height. All footwear must be secured at the heel and be properly laced and tied.
  4. Head gear is allowed only for the purpose of protection from the sun and/or weather. Unauthorized headgear will be confiscated.
Any student violating the dress code will be required to change into their P.E. clothes. Repeated dress code violations will result in detention.
