A Request for Document
Attached is a redacted copy of a letter documenting a March 2006 complaint of improper conductmade against Thomas Beltran by the parent of an 8th grade student. This letter was provided tothe District on
May 6, 2008
, by the Santa Monica Police Department. As indicated in the letter,the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District investigated the matter and took appropriateaction to ensure the protection of the complainant while also providing the employee anopportunity to respond to the complaint. Ultimately, the employee indicated that his actions were“misinterpreted” and as such, there was not enough evidence to take further action. The Districtalso forwarded information regarding the complaint to the Santa Monica Police Department. TheDistrict was informed that law enforcement authorities investigated the matter, but ultimatelydetermined that there was insufficient evidence to initiate criminal action.
